Pope Shenouda III is one of the longest reigning popes in the Coptic Orthodox Church, serving from 1971-2012. During his lifetime, Pope Shenouda had many achievements such as writing a multitude of spiritual books and a show of strength during times of persecution in Egypt and around the world. Along with his amazing humor, he is well remembered due to his great sermons and leadership to so many people during times of trouble. When His Holiness passed away, hundreds of thousands of christians in Egypt flocked to his funeral to mourn such a blessing that had left the world. One of his famous quotes read as followed, "If you have nothing to give others, give them a cheerful smile and a kind word, give them love, give them tenderness, give them a word of encouragement; give them your heart". Let us all take His Holiness's advice and live in the Christ-like manner he showed to all of us during his time in order to change the lives of those around us.We commemorate His Holiness on March 17.
